16 Oct Going to the seaside this weekend????
Take care of potentially stinging jellyfish!
WHAT TO DO IF STUNG? –
*Get out of the water.
*Rinse with plenty of clean, fresh water (not sea water)
*Use a credit card or even a clean shell or stick to remove remaining tentacles or nematocysts (poisonous sacs) that are stuck to the skin.
*Seek medical assistance immediately, particularly if they have breathing problems or chest pain.
DO NOT –
*Wee on wounds – there’s no proof it helps & it may even cause infection.
*Put vinegar on wounds – it can actually activate unfired stinging cells.
