08 Feb ‘Millies Mark’ gaining popularity in the Midlands :)
I’ve delivered a 2 day Paediatric course this week to childcare practitioners working in nurseries & schools & also some childminders.
On a Paediatric course I always talk about the tragic case of Millie Thompson who died after choking on just her 3rd day at Nursery. Her parents have since tirelessly campaigned for a change in the law as only 1 person in an early years setting had to be a trained First Aider.
As a result in 2015 the government announced that all newly qualified staff would have to be trained as standard.
This still meant there was a potential gap with existing staff – hence the ‘Millies Mark’ accreditation which shows that ALL staff at a setting are First Aid trained.
So it was lovely to see this article about Nurseries in Birmingham achieveing the ‘Millies Mark’.
